How to Prepare for the Perfect Garden Party

If you have chosen to host a garden party, there are many things for you to contemplate and prepare for. A few options to consider are:

Gazebo

A garden gazebo is an absolute must if you are hosting a garden party. If you choose your garden gazebo well, you will opt for a versatile structure with optional panels. The gazebo offers protection against the sun, insects and some well needed shade on a hot summer day.

Music

No party is complete without music. You will need to decide whether you are going to hire musicians or hook up a stereo and assign someone to be responsible for the music to be played. For the more formal party there is the option of hiring a band also. If you decide with the latter, check with the band what electrical outlets they will require and if you need to supply anything to enable them to set up.

Food

You can’t have a party without food! There are many options to choose from. On a nice hot day a barbecue is popular, as is a buffet. You will need to allocate some time to shop if you choose either of these options as you will require fresh food. Many people assign duties to family and friends, where each brings a portion of the food which makes up the entire buffet. You need to make a list and decide how much you can delegate. There is the more expensive option of catering if you feel this is too much hassle.

Beverages

Will you have a bar or a ‘bring your own’ bottle type of party? A bar is a popular choice but it can be very expensive on the party host. It is best to set a budget if you are planning on running a help yourself bar. Don’t forget the soft drinks for the children or adults who won’t be drinking!

Seating

How many people are invited? Where will you seat them all? A common mistake with a party is inviting more people than you can possibly seat. Plan well and this won’t be a problem. You can hire chairs or assemble your friends and ask who can bring deck chairs. It is amazing what you can gather with a bit of ingenuity.

A good garden party is a blend of many factors. The great host is thoroughly prepared and willing to get everyone involved to make the event a success.
